This video is a farce!
I was surprised to hear, that as part of their training - nurses are 'taught' not to get close to their patients. What a paradox - a noble profession, all about caring for the sick, and you're taught not to care for them!
As an example, I went to a Quest Diagnostic lately - and there was this unsmiling nurse at the counter. Knowing I had a timed test, she still took a whole lot of time to initiate the test, and it didn't seem to be anywhere in her interest to help. Her nails were long, which didn't help. But once again - it was the smile - or the lack of it, which upset me the most.
I'm sorry guys, but there's something majorly wrong with the medical system in the US.

It was originally done for a good reason..they would go crazy if they opened up emotionally to every patient that came there- some of whom might not survive.
ReplyDeleteBut well, if u ask em you'd hear about what a horribly high pressure and high risk job it is. Make one mistake and there's a million dollar lawsuit.
Yeah, I know there's the nurses side of the story.
ReplyDeleteBut research shows that cared-for patients get well and out of hospital sooner on average (duh!?).
I do think if nurses can't handle the emotional stresses that go with a job of caring for the sick, they should reconsider. Sure, don't open up to all - but then don't be a pain in the butt to all either ;-)
